gLite (Tarball version)
WARNING: This page is obsolete.

See also the
yum method for installing this. The method described here is for a single user without root access, or if you have to support x86_64 machines. Note that
manageTier3SW will now install this for you so this page is obsolete and no longer kept up-to-date.
- fetch the files from the LCG site
and unpack:
mkdir -p /atlas/ATLASLocalRootBase/i686/gLite/src
cd /atlas/ATLASLocalRootBase/i686/gLite/src
(wget the files)
cd ..
mkdir 3.1.0-1
cd 3.1.0-1
gtar zxf ../src/glite-UI-3.1.0-1-external.tar.gz
gtar zxf ../src/glite-UI-3.1.0-1.tar.gz
- create a file gLite/site-info.def such as this one.
- run the installation configuration:
./glite/yaim/bin/yaim -c -s glite/site-info.def -n UI_TAR
The location of the grid_env.[c]sh script, which you will have to source to use grid tools, will depend on how it is set in site-info.def. In the example above, it will be in etc/profile.d.
Note that this will also create an entry in your crontab.

If you are installing this tarball to share with other users, or for a cluster, please note that you need to make the following directory and files contained inside belong to root:
chown -R root:root <path to your glite installation>/glite/etc/vomses
