General News

ADC Technical Coordination Meeting [20180528]
- Turning off xrootd FAX redirector services
- Data Carousel prototype
- Centralizing Proxy handling for CERN services
ADC Weekly Meeting [20180529]
- Group Derivation Production
  - Open ended production proceeding mostly fine now - running fewer trains (17)
  - New cache to handle new threshold/inputs and improve MemoryMonitor
  - LZMA compression has mixed results so still evaluating
- MC Production
  - MC16e part 1 - few (200M) user requests to come
  - MC16e part 2 about half done (660M)
  - HPC & BOINC performing very well, especially Titan_long
    - Need smaller task (10M) for ORNL_titan
  - Runnings lot of evgen (1.4B in 10 days) with more to come. Hope to get more simul (60M running now, >500M waiting)
  - Still issues with Madgraph Wlnu related to LHE inputs
  - Follow up on other smaller slice samples
- Data17 Reprocessing
  - physics_Main reprocessing - Period C, E, F done, rest almost
  - BphysLS - 7 of 8 containers ready
- CRC/ADCoS Report
  - 300k slots used during week, plus Titan HPC
  - Fewer score/evgen jobs at end of week
  - Some storage problems at PIC, CERN eos and INFN tape
  - Large user transfer in the middle of the week filled SCRATCHDISK at several sites
  - SCRATCHDISK free space monitoring improved in CRC LivePage
  - Deletion failures usually when webdav xservice broken
- Summary of ADC Squad Questionnaire
  - Conclusion: ADC central would like to minimise site daily/weekly/yearly follow-up to concentrate on common tools/issues
  - ADC would like to reinforce the squad/site expected dutes and responsibilites in liaison with shifers (SquadHowTo Twiki)
    - Check availability of monitoring or operatonal tools
    - Circulate propositon over summer
    - Endorsed by ICB in autumn
