  • Rucio Clients
    • Update on progress of implementing user-friendlier rucio client commands and richer outputs
    • Discussion about improving documentation and tutorials
    • Caution about too many handles for users to circumvent checks and procedures without some thought (e.g. rucio touch), especially given the new data model
    • Some new suggestions from DAST shifters
      • Syntax for transfer to scratch on a given cloud, for example. List of common use cases, all in one place
        • Tutorial is great, but limited cases and dispersed.
      • rucio list-datasets-rse needs to be more verbose, at least settably: number of replicas, timestamp (and sort by time or list created after a certain time), size (human-readable or not)
      • dq2-finger replacement
      • rucio touch for extending lifetimes
  • HLT Status
    • One ongoing task
    • Brokerage issues – Mostly user created with bad memory and scout specifications
    • Further problems upon merging
      • Incomplete/missing/malformed steps (again, mostly user error)
      • Being fed back into instructions
  • PIC Tape System
    • Use Enstore v4.2.2-3 (from FNAL)
    • Tape drives (shared between all VOs; guaranteed minimum number of drives per experiment):
      • T10KC - 8 drives (5.4 TB/tape, 240 MB/s write)
      • LTO5 - 4 drives (1.5 TB/tape, 140 MB/s write)
      • LTO4 - 11 drives (0.8 TB/tape, 120 MB/s write)
    • Won't go into details here - CMS used tapes more than ATLAS last year (x3?)
    • Led into discussion about tape file families and how this will play with the new rucio naming and data lifetime policies
