Tier1 and Tier-2 Weekly Report 2013-02-12
General News
- ADC and ATLAS Computing News [20130212]
- ADC Weekly meeting
- Extended LHC running to Wednesday (Feb 14) to collect 5nb^-1 pp 2.76TeV. p-Pb delivered 31.2nb^-1.
- HLT reprocessing at BNL (slides
)
- Currently runs at CERN. Testing doing this at BNL on the grid (backup and take additional load if necessary).
- Need fast feedback
- Special conditions - up to date release (via CVMFS), database access (Frontier), trigger menu
- Teething issues in summer 2012. Successfully tests in October
- Working on remaining issues plus policies
- DPD Production (slides
)
- Most jobs from prior to Xmas are done
- Some tails in JETMET and TAU
- About 3k high priority jobs, 10k other
- SL6 production readiness is a concern given that some T1s (SARA) could be fully migrating soon
- MC Production (slides
)
- Mostly done - about 32k to go, few days
- DDM Report
- Rucio Renaming
- Want to rename current files to meet rucio specifications i.e. /rucio//L1/L2/filename where L1/L2 are the 2 first bytes of MD5(LFN) e.g. PFN : /rucio/user/jdoe/35/be/004406.EXT0. 00011.root
- https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/viewauth/Atlas/DDMRucioPhysicalFileName
- New naming convention already in use for DATADISK, SCRATCHDISK, CALIBDISK, PRODDISK + group area, (but not LOCALGROUPDISK)
- would like to enable for LOCALGROUPDISK soon but need to consult with end users on timing (consult before S/W week)
- TAPE endpoints still follow the old naming convention
- This change is completely transparent for grid tools (files are still registered in the LFC) and for the federations (the LFN in the LFC still follow the old convention).
- Plan is to rename old files centrally via WebDAV
- Requires sites to deploy WebDAV - would like this prior to June
- Longer term - may get rid of SRM.
- Problems with DPM deployment fed back to developers
- "The bulk renaming will be done on all sites before the end of the year. This is not disruptive for analysis and production and doesn't require any downtime from the sites."
- A new flag (isDeterministic) will be introduced in AGIS to identify sites where all files follow the new naming convention. Means LFC lookup can be skipped.
- Changes have been done in the Panda server to send the scope of the files to the pilot.
- Some changes are required in the pilot so that the output are written according to the new convention and that the LFC lookup is skipped for the sites where isDeterministic=True
- AGIS schedconfig migration
- Final debugging steps followed by a shakedown period. Things seem stable.
- missing maxwdir variable - will be fixed
- CA Cloud Squad Actions [20120626]
-
- other cloud squad related savannah and / or ROC ggus tickets [20110705]

SSB Results
- Critical tests for each site in the Site Status dashBoard are available at the links below
SSB PanDA Test Queue Availability (month)
- this metric, measured for the analysis queues, defines the site status for data preplacement as alpha (
T2D and avail > 90%), bravo (T2 and avail > 90%) or charlie (< 90%).

to localSE.GGUS 91160 in progress:lcg-cp is hang from all WN to CASTOR
write pool frequently,caused by --srm-timeout option.Castor doesn't
implement such SRM attribute for Castor srm interface, instead,Castor
uses stager timeout to control request timeout. Can increase Stager
time out to have workaround for this, but it doesn't really solve this
issue(it just increases walltime and gets bad cpu efficiency).Removed
the option "--srm-timeout 3600" from the pilots sent to TW on 02-05 in
the evening. The last time out error observed was 02-06 01:21.
+ ND/ARC job f./seg fault due to cvmfs problem.GGUS 91156 solved:have

+ DE/UNI-DORTMUND 400 job f./Put er.:Invalid argument lcg_cp.GGUS 91222

But still ~2.5K|4h f.The same problem happened again, and it happens
even with the /pnfs mounted,SRM stops working at some point.Have tried
increasing the memory of the SRM domain, besides another couple of
variables, and opened a ticket against dCache support.Service works
after restart,Jan.8.
