How to install Atlas software for a cluster
WARNING: This page is obsolete.
This assumes that there is a local cluster of computers which have been setup and each node has
GLite installed with the yum method and available to all users. There is no reason why this procedure cannot be used for a single-user machine.

This is still a work in progress ... there are probably better ways to do this and we will ammend this page as needed.
Create the installation directory and links
Select the area where you want the software installed (/data/isabel1/AtlasLocalInstallation in the example below) and do the following:
mkdir /data/isabel1/AtlasLocalInstallation
mkdir /data/isabel1/AtlasLocalInstallation/i686
mkdir /data/isabel1/AtlasLocalInstallation/x86_64
and then, for each node of the cluster, soft link them from the root directory
ln -s /data/isabel1/AtlasLocalInstallation/i686 /ATLAS_LOCAL_ROOT
or
ln -s /data/isabel1/AtlasLocalInstallation/x86_64 /ATLAS_LOCAL_ROOT)
There are reports that installing both architectures on the same tree may cause problems, hence the separate 32/64 bit directories.

From now on, navigate to the area with /ATLAS_LOCAL_ROOT. Also, note that ATLAS_LOCAL will be prepended to all variable names in the installation procedure below.
Install Pacman
you can install it or do the following:
Install a Multi-kit
Do the following to install a kit - this will only install the Athena release for a specific architecture.
cd /ATLAS_LOCAL_ROOT
pacman -get
http://trshare.triumf.ca/~atlas/ATLAS.mirror:Multi
-allow tar-overwrite
(+KV will fail because of the following error:
removing Multi+KV as some of the old kit validations no longer work)
